Andy & Kelly recently moved into their forever home with their children in Little Paxton, St Neots. They wanted to convert the old workshop / barn they had to create a games room / hang out area for a space all of the family can enjoy.
During our free consultation meeting, Kelly explained that they wanted to use the space much more - especially for entertainment.
She was concerned about the existing roof leaking which was corrugated sheeting. We suggested removing and replacing the roof with new trusses and concrete tiles making this a solid, watertight roof that is going to last years.
Our first job once work commenced, was to build our new wooden trusses by hand which we done by using steel plates, nuts and bolts to join the different parts of the trusses together. We then installed the floor by using Damp Proof Membrane, wooden joists, celotex insulation & floor boards.
Once the floor was down we then built our timber framed walls in stages in the barn before taking the old steel trusses and corrugated roof sheets off the roof.
The building looked completely different with the roof off but it wasn't for long. All of our pre made timber trusses, membrane and slats were installed over the course of 3 days. We then installed the new concrete roof tiles, ridge tiles, fascia & guttering over the last next few days. Having the roof completed meant that we could focus our attention on completing the interior over the last 3 weeks of the project which we thoroughly enjoyed completing for this lovely family.
Andy & Kelly were delighted with the end result and all of the work we had done for them in totally transforming this derelict storage space / outbuilding workshop.
